Second harmonic generation by strongly coupled exciton–plasmons: The role of polaritonic states in nonlinear dynamics

We investigate second harmonic generation (SHG) from hexagonal periodic arrays of triangular nano-holes aluminum using a self-consistent methodology based on the hydrodynamics-Maxwell-Bloch approach. It is shown that angular polarization patterns far-field response abide to three-fold symmetry constraints tensors. When molecular layer added system and its parameters are adjusted achieve strong coupling regime between localized plasmon mode excitons, Rabi splitting observed occurrence both single- two-photon transition peaks within SHG power spectrum. argued for transitions results direct lower upper polaritonic states strongly coupled system. This interpretation can be accounted by tailored three-level quantum model, with in agreement unbiased numerical Our suggest hybrid formed systems directly contribute nonlinear dynamics. opens new directions designing THz sources frequency converters.
